Emmy Akiyama is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
Emmy has her M.A. in Marital & Family Therapy with specialized training in Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University. She has over 10 years of hospital, community mental health, and school-based experience providing therapy and case management for a diverse portfolio of patients individually, and in groups. She also has masters level teaching experience on the topic of multicultural issues in the therapy profession. Emmy has also received additional training in the Hakomi Mindful Somatic Method and grief & loss issues, which are all described on the Specialized Training page.
Emmy is a Certified Hakomi Therapist (CHT) and Teacher with the Hakomi Institute of California, and a member of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) and the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT).
