Emmy Akiyama is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist.
Emmy received her M.A. in Marital & Family Therapy with specialized training in Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University. She has 10 years of hospital, community mental health, and school-based experience providing therapy and case management for a diverse portfolio of patients individually, and in groups. She also has masters level teaching experience on the topic of multicultural issues in the therapy profession. In addition to being trained as an art therapist, Emmy has sought out additional training in specific topics such as somatic therapy skills, and grief & loss, which are all described on the Specialized Training page.
Emmy serves on the board of the Southern California Art Therapy Association, and is a member of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), and the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT).
